Irving Oil Ltd. has announced that Alfred Stern, until recently the chair of an energy giant in Europe, will take over leadership of the Saint John company.
Stern will join Irving Oil on Oct. 1 and become president and CEO on Nov. 1, the company said in a news release Monday.
Stern has been the CEO and executive chair of the board of OMV AG, “one of Europe’s largest integrated energy, fuels and chemicals companies,” the release said.
“He has more than 30 years of leadership experience across the full energy value chain spanning operations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.”
The release went on to say that Stern “has successfully led and transformed large multinational industrial groups through complex transformations and significant strategic decisions.”
