The New Brunswick government wants to boost defence-related economic activity in the province and is hoping a new strategy can help achieve that goal.
Premier Susan Holt on Monday announced the government’s release of a framework aimed at growing the province’s defence industry, with a target of increasing GDP related to it from $762 million last year to $1 billion annually by 2030.
“We’ve always played a big role in Canada’s defence, and we are ready to play a bigger one,” Holt said, standing outside the entrance to 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown.
