Premier Susan Holt’s Liberal government is changing one of its most important calculations: how it counts how many New Brunswickers have access to primary care.
Holt acknowledged Thursday that previous figures she was citing to track progress toward her 2028 target were not reliable.
“We will have one single version of the truth and an accurate understanding of who has care and what progress we’re making to ensure New Brunswickers have access to primary care,” she said at a news conference.
A new payment system for New Brunswick doctors allows the province to track who has a provider in real time by counting Medicare claims.
