Molly Nugent, the new principal at Oromocto High School, said the school’s new cellphone policy hopes to achieve a greater consistency within the school and put a focus on learning and social connection.
Nugent, who has been a vice-principal at the school for the last six years, said administrators have been having these conversations for the last three years.
Before this school year, she said cellphone bans were at the discretion of teachers and instructors could allow students to use their phones for academic purposes in the past.
