Progress toward a new aquatic centre in Fredericton is inching forward, this time with potential involvement of the University of New Brunswick and YMCA.
The City of Fredericton has been “engaged in discussions with the two potential partners” about the design, construction and operation of a new aquatic centre, Sara DeGrace, Fredericton’s deputy chief administrator, told council during a regular meeting on Monday.
“The city and both potential partners clearly understand the pressure our aquatics community is experiencing. Existing facilities are aging, capacity is limited, and there’s a shared sense of urgency to find a sustainable solution.”
DeGrace said the two potential partners have so far said they would like for the facility to be built on land either of them already own,
