Canadian social media influencer DancinWayne is the in-game host for the 22nd FIFA World Cup tournament taking place this month in Doha, Qatar.
With a focus on humour, empowerment, mental health, and social good, the Northern BC resident best known as DancinWayne has turned his relatable social media videos into a powerful content vehicle that has circulated the planet to a tune of almost one billion views. With nearly one million followers across his social platforms combined, DancinWayne has quickly grown into one of Canada’s most coveted social media stars, making a significant, positive impact with his content across the globe. From his background in entertainment, the dancer-turned-entertainer has performed at the Much Music Video Awards, opened for Jackie Chan, and has starred in commercials for Microsoft and HSBC. DancinWayne began his social media career during the pandemic and has since turned to creating full time as the demand for his presence both online and in person continues to grow. His work has been shared hundreds of thousands of times across various social media platforms, and has both been referenced and shared by some of the worlds’ biggest celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, Taylour Paige, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Sarah Nicole Landry.
As the official in-game host throughout the month-long tournament, Wayne is tasked with serving as emcee for the daily soccer matches and will at times host more than one game in a day. DancinWayne will participate in all World Cup ceremonies and events, and kicked off his duties by hosting the opening ceremonies, immediately followed by the very first World Cup match of the tournament – Ecuador vs. Qatar.
No stranger to hosting audiences with tens of thousands of attendees, Wayne has served as the in-game emcee for FIFA multiple times, starting with the Concacaf Gold Cup Finals – his first emcee position in professional sports in Las Vegas in 2021, followed by the Arab Cup the same year in Doha, Qatar, along with various other entertainment related projects for the international organization. He has also hosted CBC Vancouver’s 2016 celebrations for Canada’s 150th birthday, along with the Cannes Creative Festival in France just this year. With vast entertainment experience as an award-winning dancer, DancinWayne knows firsthand what it takes to keep a crowd excited, and with an expected five billion spectators from around the world Wayne will be doing just that.
Tasked with keeping the fans engaged and having fun, Wayne will be conducting both player and fan interviews, interacting with team members, and queuing up the DJ, among many other responsibilities. With daily hosting duties in stadiums that seat 50,000+, DancinWayne will be traversing all corners of each stadium with a personal team of videographers along with translators relevant to each match. As he gears up for a marathon 16-game-day stretch ahead of him, Wayne has been spending time in the gym in preparation for the massive physical demands the position requires.
