More than 25,000 N.B. Power customers were without electricity on Tuesday morning after a dump truck made contact with a transmission line on Fredericton’s north side.

The outages included large swaths of Fredericton, stretching to Sheffield and Maugerville areas and parts of Oromocto, Beaver Dam, Fredericton Junction and Tracy, according to the utility’s website.

As of around 10:30 a.m., about 13,000 customers remained without power. Most of the remaining outages show restoration times of 1:30 p.m. or earlier, according to the N.B. Power website.

In an email, N.B. Power spokesperson Elizabeth Fraser said crews were on-site where the dump truck made contact and were “ensuring the area is safe for the public.”
