Communication is getting better as Indigenous communities take a greater interest in energy projects and assume leadership roles in projects as well, participants in an Indigenous-led energy conference say.
About 500 people, including a variety of players in the development of energy projects, gathered in Saint John this week for the conference on Indigenous involvement in the energy sector.
Michael Peters, CEO of Glooscap Ventures, said that a lot has changed in the sector over the past decade, and that there are more federal lending programs that help Indigenous communities take ownership stakes in energy initiatives.
