The Festival acadien de Caraquet, a landmark cultural institution in Atlantic Canada, is proud to present a 62nd edition that goes on until August 15, 2024.
Thanks to the generosity of many partners, the festival offers an exceptional program featuring over 50 artists and 35 performances, along with a multitude of free activities for the whole family. This year, the festival will showcase an impressive diversity of artists from Acadia, First Nations, Quebec, and Louisiana. Festivalgoers will enjoy performances by Zachary Richard, Patsy Gallant, Marie-Jo Thério, Annie Blanchard, Bruno Pelletier, Roxane Bruneau, and P-A Méthot, among others. Due to the popularity and high quality of the lineup, most of these renowned artists’ shows are already sold out. Once again, the festival will present free performances in Caraquet’s new neighborhoods: Evangéline, Pokemouche, Bas-Caraquet, and Saint-Simon.
To kick off the festivities yesterday August 4, the festival offered a nautical activity: a family-friendly paddle on the Bay of Caraquet for enthusiasts of paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, and other non-motorized watercraft. Close to 100 people participated. In the evening, a thousand festival goers were at the Carrefour de la mer for a party with Aboiteau and La Trappe.
A highly anticipated highlight of this edition will be the special performance tonight Monday August 5 by virtuoso guitarist Shaun Ferguson. Exclusively at the Caraquet Acadian Festival, Shaun Ferguson will present an orchestral version of his pieces during his “Shaun Ferguson Orchestral” show. This unique performance promises to deliver an enchanting and unprecedented musical experience.
Music and party enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy two more parties on August 8, a Country Night with Laurie LeBlanc, Daniel Goguen, and Daniel Léger, and on August 14, an evening with Réveil and the Louisiana band Lost Bayou Ramblers (19 and over).
On August 15, National Acadian Day, the traditional Grand Tintamarre at 6 pm will be followed by the major show ‘L’Acadie en fête” featuring the group Beaumont and their guests, Les Fils du Diable, and an after-party with two Acadan DJs until the early hours of the morning.
The traditional fireworks will take place on Sunday August 11, a spectacular display that will light up the Caraquet sky and delight both young and old.
Under the direction of Matthieu Girard, the new General and Artistic Director who proudly takes over from Paul Marcel Albert, the festival continues to play a vital role in promoting the cultural and tourism industry in the region.
The Festival acadien de Caraquet is made possible through the generosity of its partners, including Canadian Heritage, the Municipality of Caraquet, the Province of New Brunswick, Musicaction, and its official presenters, l’Acadie Nouvelle and Loto 50/50 of the Coopérative de Caraquet. We also thank our local sponsors, who have contributed over $250,000, allowing the festival to shine a spotlight on Acadian culture and the city of Caraquet. It is thanks to this generosity that the festival can offer free performances and activities to the community.
