The lead investigator in Daniel Bard’s financial crimes case testified before a Moncton judge Wednesday, detailing what led to charges being laid against the alleged fraudster in July 2022.
Sgt. Patrick Lemerise sat in the witness box for most of the day in Bard’s retrial on 19 charges, including fraud, theft and money laundering. Bard’s first trial ended in a mistrial last June after his lawyer withdrew for health reasons.
Lemerise led an initial investigation into accusations brought against Bard by business owners and the New Brunswick Financial and Consumer Services Commission in October 2020.
