Fresh off the release of her chart topping single “Sometimes I Drink”, Juno Award nominated singer-songwriter, Desiree Dorion, is back with a brand new, fun and lighthearted Country track. Known for both her impactful storytelling and free spirited lyrics, Desiree has reached the top spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown, and her most recent release, “Sometimes I Drink” marked her sixth appearance in the top 100 Country Music Charts in Canada, which stayed on the charts for a whopping 16 weeks. The song also reached #12 on the top Canadian Country Downloads on iTunes. The 2017 “Songwriter of the Year” award recipient at Manitoba’s Country Music Awards also uses her powerful voice to shed light on issues facing Canada’s Indigenous community. Desiree partnered with the Canadian Country Music Association to host the Achimotak Series, meaning “let’s talk about it together”- a conversation between Indigenous artists about their experience in the industry. Desiree is gearing up to release a brand new, super fun track about imagining what it’s like to date in this day and age. Written and performed with Doc Walker’s Dave Wasyliw, “Wouldn’t That Be Fun” is set for release on Friday, April 8 2022.

Fun, upbeat, and lighthearted, Desiree Dorion’s “Wouldn’t That Be Fun” featuring Dave Wasyliw is Country/Rock blended call and response about imagining what it’s like to be in the early stages of a relationship. After initially meeting at the 2019 Manitoba Country Music Awards, Desiree and Dave got together in the summer of 2021 to co-write. Yet as their three hour songwriting session progressed, it was clear to them both that this song in particular needed to be a call and response style duet, requiring a second vocalist. The young love, flirtatious song features a driving rhythm and the complimentary vocals of the songwriters coming together during the chorus. Moving away from her biographical, storytelling focused songs, Desiree’s “Wouldn’t That Be Fun” is a cheerful, lively, and fun-loving tune taken from the imagination of the songwriters about what dating is like today – the things people would do, what they would say to their friends, and the butterflies-in-your-stomach excitement of whether the other person in the relationship feels the same way.

“This song is a fun-loving song about the uncertainty of a budding romance.” – Desiree Dorion

Biography

Desiree Dorion grew up a mile and a half from the grounds of Dauphin Country Fest, one of the biggest outdoor music festivals in Canada.  As a little girl she would ride her bike there when the festival wasn’t on, climb up on the stage, and pretend to play to the thousands of fans that come to watch big country music acts. In 2014 her dream of playing the mainstage came true when she shared the stage with The Band Perry.

The JUNO Nominee has had five songs chart in the top 100 on the Canadian country music charts (TRAX), along with several reaching the top spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown. Her songwriting partner on her most recent single, “Wouldn’t That Be Fun,” is one-half of Doc Walker, Dave Wasyliw.
