Two weeks ago an enterprising couple opened a café and bakery near Lepreau, New Brunswick and not far from New River Beach. We stopped in to visit Ashley and Shane Lomax yesterday and again today to pick up a loaf of brown bread we had asked them to hold for us.
What a find! They bake and sell their own cheesecake (many flavours), cinnamon and other yummy buns, as well as ice cream cones, slushies, floats, shakes and homemade bread.
When we got home one of us, herself a great baker, had a slice of the brown bread and declared, “This is delicious! I won’t be baking any brown bread for the rest of this summer.” It’s that good.
We’d like to keep it a secret just for ourselves but the word is out. Cheesecake & Cones is being overwhelmed with eager first-time and insatiable return customers.
Want to join the enthusiasts? Cheesecake & Cones is located at 208 on Route 790. Take exit 86 off the St. John to St. Stephen divided highway and head in the direction of Maces Bay and Dipper Harbour. They are on your right about a kilometer or so past the turn off to Lepreau. If you’re coming from Pocologan, New River Beach and Lepreau, turn right on Route 790.
