Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, so families get a full weekend of spooky fun, plus a few events on Thursday and Friday. Here are 12 kid-friendly options across New Brunswick, from Fredericton to Saint John to Greater Moncton, in rough date order. This list is a work in progress, so check each organizer’s page for final times before heading out.
Thursday, October 29
1. Ghostly Grove and Halloween at the Barn (Colpitts Settlement)
Blossom Grove, at 215 Synton Road, runs two experiences. There’s a horrifying after-dark trail, with reservations recommended, and a milder family event with trick-or-treat stations, a petting zoo and a craft market. The family side kicks off Thursday at 5 PM, and the event runs from October 29 to 31. Little ones can stick to the barn and skip the trail.
Friday, October 30
2. Trick or Treat at Market Square (Saint John)
Kids can explore Market Square and visit 10+ trick-or-treat stations from 5 to 7:30 PM, which makes it an easy, weather-proof way to fill a treat bag.
3. Halloween Roller Night (Fredericton)
This one is at the Capital Exhibit Centre on October 30. Listings show a 4 PM start, so it’s a good choice for kids who’d rather skate in costume than knock on doors.
4. Trunk-or-Treat at Training for Life (Fredericton)
This trunk-or-treat is at 35 Alison Blvd. on Friday, October 30, at 5 PM. It’s a good early-evening stop before the weekend rush.
Saturday, October 31
5. Halloween Spooktacular at the Moncton Library
The library hosts this event from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. It’s a gentle morning option for toddlers and preschoolers.
6. Boo at the Zoo (Moncton)
This is the big one for families. Magnetic Hill Zoo’s Halloween tradition has silly and spooky decorations, animal feeding stations, a scavenger hunt, bouncy castles, and three levels of haunted venues from mild to scary. Saturday is the final day, with hours of 10 AM to 4 PM. Proceeds from the event go toward building improvements at the zoo.
7. Boyle Family Farm (Moncton area)
If your kids would rather get lost in a maze than a haunted house, this is your stop. On weekends from 11 AM to 4 PM you get the corn maze, pumpkin patch, petting zoo and family fun zone for $15 per person (kids under two free), or $50 for a family of up to six. It’s open Sunday, November 1 too, if Saturday fills up.
8. P’tit Belliveau Spooky Spectacular III (Moncton)
The Aberdeen Cultural Centre hosts this show on October 31 starting at 12:03 PM. It’s a good pick for francophone families or anyone who wants an indoor show.
9. Trunk or Treat at the Moncton Coliseum
The Coliseum hosts this one from 2 to 5 PM. Go early and you can finish before dinner and evening trick-or-treating.
10. Riverview Halloween Costume Skate
This all-ages Halloween skate runs from 3:45 to 5:15 PM and is billed as an afternoon of spooky family fun on ice.
11. Pet Pawlooza (Fredericton)
The Fredericton Inn hosts this event on October 31, with Lily’s Place Animal Sanctuary and Salty Torch Glassworks listed among the participants. The same venue also shows a trunk-or-treat that day. Dress up the dog and bring the kids.
Freddy Fright Fest and Science East’s Low-Scare Haunted Tour (Fredericton)
12. Freddy Fright Fest
The 6th annual Freddy Fright Fest takes over downtown Fredericton and supports the Charlotte Street Arts Centre and Fredericton Hospice. The main tour is a high-scare event, but the festival also offers a Low Scare Haunted Tour designed for kids and families. I couldn’t confirm the 2026 low-scare dates, so check with Science East and the event page before you go.
Trick-or-Treating Tips
Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe generally encourage trick-or-treating between 4 PM and 8 PM on October 31, and you should watch their social media for updates. Look for houses with porch lights or decorations, and plan around the weather. In New Brunswick, that can mean parkas over the costumes.
