AV Group says its Atholville pulp mill in northern New Brunswick is facing “the same external challenges” as the company’s Nackawic mill in the southwest.
On Thursday, the company announced the Nackawic mill will be temporarily closing next month because of market conditions related to “a surplus of pulp.”
Spokesperson Mike Legere said the company will be looking at every option to find the “next step” for the Nackawic mill.
But the Nackawic mill is not AV Group’s only mill up for discussion.
“We recognize that our Atholville facility has to meet these challenges as well, and they’re looking at how to overcome this so they don’t find themselves in a similar situation,” Legere said.
