As was our search for what to name this site and our company. We had spent several hours and to be honest probably several days trying to come up with a short catchy name but also something that pertains to what the site actually does. So in our case, the name actually came from a text message I received.
My stepfather Garth who is legally blind was away being matched with a seeing eye dog. The morning we found the name I received a text from my mom saying that Garth had been matched with his new dog and her name was Newsie. I happened to mention this to the other person in the room to which she said that’s it that’s the name for the website.
As the site is an online newspaper and publishes news, events and more newsie was also a play on the word nosy. This started the frantic search to see if a .com domain was available. After a few tries at different spellings nouzie.com was born.
