High winds gusting across New Brunswick on Saturday have resulted in about 11,000 power outages as of 4:30 p.m., according to N.B. Power.

Utility spokesperson D’Arcy Walsh said most of the outages were caused by trees falling into power lines. The hardest-hit areas include Greater Moncton, Fredericton, and the Kennebecasis Valley.

“Crews are in the field assessing damage and making repairs to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” Walsh said in an email.

Crews began responding at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with restoration timelines depending on the extent of local damage.
