Fredericton council voted Monday to explore the options this fall for a new aquatics centre but also to address age-related problems at two pools the public will be using until there is one.
Council approved funding for renovations at the city-owned Fredericton Indoor Pool in the Nashwaaksis area and to share costs with the University of New Brunswick to upgrade the Sir Max Aitken Pool.
Sara DeGrace, the city’s deputy chief administrative officer, told council the Aitken pool is “beyond its useful life,” the indoor pool is “in need of a deep retrofit” and the other option,
