The City of Moncton has funded a two-year pilot project to help downtown businesses cope with property crime.
The $500,000 Downtown Resilience Program allows eligible businesses to claim up to $15,000 each year for repairs caused by property crime or to enhance security measures to prevent it, said Patrick Richard, executive director of Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc.
Richard said only those businesses located in the city’s downtown business improvement area are eligible for the program, which launched in April.
