A man who stabbed a Moncton police officer in the head three times last year was sentenced Thursday to 4½ years in prison.
Edva Mascary, 36, pleaded guilty in February to assault and aggravated assault against two peace officers.
He was given credit of 513 days for time served since his arrest, which will be subtracted from his sentence. That leaves about three years for him to serve in prison.
Officers responded to a home on Fairisle Drive in Moncton on the evening of Aug. 14 after a dispute between Mascary and his roommate.
