Moncton’s Todd John Lewis will spend six years behind bars for escaping from the Southeast Regional Correctional Facility in Shediac earlier this year.
Lewis, 36, was on the run for nearly six weeks earlier this year, between his escape on Feb. 12 and his eventual arrest by Codiac RCMP on March 23.
Lewis was in person in a Moncton courtroom to hear his sentence on Tuesday afternoon, wearing a black graphic T-shirt and holding a book. He was quiet except to tell Judge Brigitte Volpé that he agreed with agreed statements of fact.
“This is a clear case of someone completely defying court orders, authorities, [and] the judicial system,” Volpé said as she delivered her sentence.
