Summer in New Brunswick means one thing: an excuse to get in the car and go find a festival. Whether you’re chasing live music, lobster, or a good old-fashioned rodeo, the province has something happening nearly every weekend this month. Here are 10 festivals worth the drive before July wraps up.
1. Shediac Lobster Festival — Shediac (through July 12)
For more than 75 years, Shediac has been throwing a week-long party in honor of its most famous export. Expect live music, carnival rides, bingo nights, and, of course, more lobster than you can eat. If you’re anywhere near the Moncton area this week, this is the one to catch before it wraps up on the 12th.
2. Explore NB Open — Mactaquac (through July 12)
Golf fans, this one’s for you. The Explore NB Open brings PGA TOUR Americas talent to the Mactaquac Provincial Park golf course just outside Fredericton, with a full slate of festivities happening around the Capital Region alongside the tournament.
3. Neguac Celebrates Summer — Neguac (July 8–11)
This multi-day community event kicks off right as our window opens. Neguac Celebrates Summer is a classic small-town New Brunswick celebration, with entertainment and activities for the whole family along the Acadian Peninsula.
4. Acadie Love Pride Festivities — Caraquet (July 9–11)
Caraquet hosts a vibrant, colorful celebration of diversity with cultural activities and a grand parade. It’s a great stop if you’re making your way up the Acadian coast this month.
5. AREA 506 LOUD — Saint John (July 10–11)
A high-energy prelude to Saint John’s better-known AREA 506 Festival later in the summer, AREA 506 LOUD brings live music to the waterfront city for a weekend of loud, guitar-forward fun.
6. Saint-Quentin Western Festival — Saint-Quentin (July 12)
New Brunswick’s only western festival has been running since 1984, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: rodeo, line dancing, a horse pull, and a western parade. Dust off your boots and head to the northwest corner of the province for a taste of cowboy culture, Maritime-style.
7. Campbellton Bluegrass Festival — Campbellton (July 16–19)
Up in the north, Campbellton hosts several days of bluegrass music against the backdrop of the Restigouche River. It’s a laid-back, porch-picking kind of weekend for anyone who loves a fiddle and a banjo.
8. Sussex Fundy Fest — Sussex (July 17–18)
Now in its fourth year at the Sussex Drive-In, Fundy Fest packs a dozen artists into two days, with a lineup leaning heavily on East Coast country and rock talent from around the Bay of Fundy region.
9. Irish Festival on the Miramichi — Miramichi (July 17)
Celebrating the deep Irish roots of the Miramichi region, this festival brings traditional music, dance, and culture to Waterford Green for a day of Celtic celebration on the river.
10. Miramichi Rockin’ River Fest — Miramichi (July 23–26)
Closing out the month, the Rockin’ River Fest turns Miramichi into a multi-day music destination, making it a great final excuse for one more summer road trip before August rolls in.
Planning your route: Several of these festivals cluster in the northeast (Caraquet, Saint-Quentin, Campbellton, Miramichi), so a single loop up the Acadian Peninsula and back down through the Miramichi Valley could easily hit four or five of them in one trip. Check each festival’s official page closer to the date, since outdoor events can shift with weather.
