About the event

Canadian Multiculturalism Day
The City of Saint John invites residents and visitors to come together for Canadian Multiculturalism Day on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with an afternoon of free cultural performances, music, food, and family‑friendly activities at Ihtoli‑maqahamok – The Gathering Space and inside the Market Square Atrium.

From 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., the waterfront will be filled with vibrant displays of culture, community, and creativity, highlighting the many backgrounds that make Saint John a diverse and welcoming city.

The celebration begins at 2:00 p.m. with a Multicultural Parade from Area506, down Water Street to Market Square, featuring community groups, traditional dress, music, and dance.

Once at the waterfront, visitors can enjoy a full afternoon of activities:

International Buffet opens in the Market Square Atrium – 3:00 p.m.

Multicultural Community Activities, Cultural Performances and Family Soccer Fun Zone — 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.

All activities are FREE and open to the public.

This event is funded by the Government of Canada and the City of Saint John, in partnership with the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, PRUDE Inc., the Saint John Newcomers Centre (SJNC), and the Cultural Association of Francophone Immigrants (CaFi).
