A prolific Fredericton author is being recognized by the New Brunswick Book Awards with the annual legacy award.
Nancy Bauer, 91, has written five novels and countless articles for various magazines. She had a weekly arts column in the Telegraph-Journal and, through her time writing it, wrote over 500,000 words, according to the book awards committee.
Bauer founded the Maritime Writers’ Workshop in 1974 and was a co-founder of the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick.
Bauer said her first novel was Flora, Write This Down in 1983. Looking back, she said she’s sometimes a little embarrassed by just how enthusiastic she was to have her first novel published.
