A curriculum for the use of artificial intelligence in schools is scheduled to come out this fall, Education Minister Claire Johnson told the legislature Wednesday.
She didn’t provide much detail but said the government will be “looking at how those tools can be used in an ethical and responsible fashion.”
Asked later for examples of how AI might be used in schools, Johnson said, “learning how to read and write, establishing patterns in the way that a student can spell, read or write and do math.”
She told the legislature that “guardrails” are needed to make sure children are safe, “and that is why we are developing those policies and platforms to guide these youth.”
