The Fredericton–Oromocto Green Party Association has been deregistered by Elections Canada as an electoral district association because of an “administrative error,” according to the party.
Elizabeth May, the federal Green leader, said the deregistration was the result of an administrative error.
“I was just surprised as anyone, because we have a strong, a strong group of volunteers in the Fredericton-Oromocto Electoral District Association,” said May, the MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands.
“The idea they would be deregistered, I knew had to be an error.”
Mercedes Bacon-Traplin, a spokesperson for the party, said in an email that the association’s financial annual return was submitted in time,
