An internal investigation found a Fredericton Transit bus driver was breaking the speed limit a minute before crashing into a ditch while operating in a winter storm that blanketed the city in a mix of snow and freezing rain last December.
The city’s transit manager, however, says weather, not speeding, was the cause of the crash that sent the driver and six passengers to hospital with injuries.
“It was an unfortunate incident that occurred that night,” Fred Gerrior told reporters Friday. “That flash freezing really occurred really quickly.
