Symphony New Brunswick is now recognized as an exceptional music organization in the country by the Canada Council for the Arts.
The orchestra ranked second out of 50 on the council’s list of music and sound organizations with annual budgets under $5 million.
“It’s a wonderful feeling and of course an honour to see our work and our vision being recognized at an institutional and national level,” Mélanie Léonard, the musical director and conductor for Symphony NB, told CBC radio’s Information Morning Fredericton.
“This ranking reflects the commitment of our musicians, our team and our community.”
Léonard said her organization operates with a budget of just over $1 million a year.
