As of 5:30 p.m. Sunday, the eastbound lanes of Route 1 between Hampton and Quispamsis remain closed as crews continue cleanup efforts in the wake of a fuel spill.
The highway closed Wednesday evening after a tanker truck rolled over and spilled 36,000 litres of fuel.
The westbound lanes partially reopened Friday afternoon, with a one-lane reduction between kilometre markers 142 and 158.
The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization said the Department of the Environment and a consulting firm will visit homeowners in the nearby Smithtown and Lakeside areas and inspect waterways.
