A Bathurst police officer faces charges that include uttering threats and harassment of a former intimate partner.
Bathurst Police Force Const. Nathan Pitre, 28, was charged this week by the Serious Incident Response Team.
The team, known as SIRT, investigates matters involving death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence involving a police officer in New Brunswick.
A report by SIRT director Erin Nauss says the Bathurst Police Force contacted the team on May 27 last year about an allegation that an officer “was harassing a former intimate partner.”
The team was alerted to another alleged incident on June 27 and a third by RCMP on June 28. The RCMP investigated the third incident with SIRT providing oversight.
