A man found not criminally responsible for a machete attack against three people at a Fredericton college in 2014 faces a new charge in Moncton.

Luke Thomas Walter Powers, 43, is accused of aggravated assault on musician John McLaren, who he knew, outside a downtown bar on March 14. The charge alleges Powers endangered McLaren’s life. 

Powers was charged Wednesday and a bail hearing was scheduled Friday afternoon in Moncton provincial court. However, the hearing was adjourned a week to give him time to secure a lawyer.

In 2014, Powers admitted attacking three people with a knife at Eastern College in Fredericton on Jan.
