Retailers in New Brunswick are experiencing more theft, a lot of which is going unreported, according to the Retail Council of Canada.
This was revealed when representatives with the council took a recent visit to Saint John to meet with the local police department chief and New Brunswick’s public safety minister.
Jim Cormier, director of government relations for the Retail Council of Canada, said those conversations also revealed there isn’t enough discourse between police and retailers.
“Retailers don’t necessarily know what some of the police resources are out there and even how to educate themselves on the things that they need to be doing,” Cormier said.
