The editor of an updated Indigenous language dictionary says he hopes the resource will help spur more language learning.
“It’s a real resource for people who want to learn the language,” said Robert Leavitt, the editor of Peskotomuhkati-Wolastoqey Latuwewakon, a Wolastoqey and Peskotomuhkati dictionary.
The original edition of the dictionary was published in 2008 but quickly sold out due to high demand.
“The publishers have been almost taking backorders over the past years since the dictionary sold out,” said Leavitt.
