Bathurst started the new year with a brand new transit service.
Three 24-passenger buses are now offering door-to-door service to residents who, until now, had to use taxis to get around the northern New Brunswick city.
Mayor Kim Chamberlain was thrilled to ride the bus the day it launched.
“It’s a great day. I can’t even tell you how happy I am,” she said of the new service, which aims to provide affordable transportation, particularly for students and seniors.

Chamberlain said it will also benefit employers who are trying to attract workers.
