A doctor accused of sexually assaulting patients in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick has had one of the charges against him dropped.
During an appearance Monday in provincial court in Amherst, N.S., prosecutor Vicky Doucette said the Crown was withdrawing one of three sexual assault charges against Dr. Sanjeev Sirpal after determining there was no reasonable prospect of conviction.
The charges against Sirpal relate to his time working in the emergency department at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Nappan, just outside Amherst, last year.
Sirpal did not appear in court for Monday’s brief appearances and was instead represented by defence lawyer Stan MacDonald.
