Meghan Vanelst thought someone drove into her house on Friday afternoon.

It turns out she was one of the many New Brunswickers who felt an earthquake that struck about 27 kilometres northwest of Miramichi around 4:40 p.m. on Friday.

According to Earthquakes Canada, the quake had a magnitude of 2.5.

“It almost felt like there was something pushing against the back of the house,” said Vanelst, who lives in Trout Brook, about 22 kilometres northwest of Miramichi.

Vanelst said she lives close to a road frequently used by logging trucks, so when she felt the shaking, she went out to check if someone had driven into her house.
