Ron Turcotte’s saddle used on Secretariat during his extraordinary Triple Crown win more than 50 years ago is on a New York auction list.
The famous New Brunswick jockey’s coveted Triple Crown success set records at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont.
Turcotte, who was born in Drummond, died last August in the northwestern New Brunswick community at the age of 84.
The late U.S. billionaire Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts football team and a collection of sportsworld objects and other memorabilia, bought the saddle from Turcotte in 2023.
On March 12, Christie’s will put the saddle up for auction in New York City.
