Louise LeBlanc told a judge Monday she’s been left with a hole in her heart that won’t heal after the murder of her daughter last year in Miramichi.
She made the comments while reading a victim impact statement during the sentencing of Billy Joe Stewart. The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, admitting he killed LeBlanc, 43, in Miramichi in May 2024.
“The only comfort I have is that she’s at peace with God and no one will ever hurt her again,” Louise LeBlanc said.
Stewart’s criminal record began just months after his 18th birthday and has 84 entries, including violence and threats against LeBlanc in the years before her murder, the court heard.
According to an agreed statement of facts, which outlines the details Stewart admits, the two had been in a relationship for about 10 years and were living under a tarp in Miramichi at the time she died in late May last year.
