With a team consisting of Celine Dion’s longtime drummer, Dominique Messier, and nine-time JUNO award nominee Marc Thériault, Canadian Pop singer-songwriter Tamara Grace recently garnered over 150,000 streams with her early 2022 release Autumn Tears. The young Montreal based artist earned extensive radio play across numerous CBC and Campus radio stations, the opportunity to perform on CTV Morning Live Ottawa and an invitation to perform her first fully original musical set at Montreal Filipino Music Festival for a crowd of over 5,000 people. Tamara’s newest song is an instantly catchy, early 1960’s inspired single titled “Auburn”, a song about finally confessing her feelings to a longtime crush. “Auburn” was released on Friday, July 29, 2022.

About “Auburn”:

A thoughtfully written love letter filled with all the feelings that Tamara was never able to confess to her high school crush, “Auburn” is bursting with sing-along inducing, light-hearted lyrics and beautifully layered harmonies. After reconnecting with that old high school crush who Tamara labeled as too ‘cool’ and ‘popular’ to look her way, Tamara felt her romantic feelings for them reignite after the two reconnected as friends years later. Starting with the discovery of a 60-inspired guitar sound on her keyboard reminiscent of The Mamas & the Papas, Abba and Dolly Parton, the lyrics for the second verse of “Auburn” were written in the form of ballad – Tamara’s signature musical style. After perfecting the lyrics and tune of “Auburn” in under two hours, Tamara made the decision to up the tempo and experimented with adding acoustic, electric, and nylon guitar elements to the track.

Featuring cheeky, relatable lyrics, and a danceable melody, Tamara lets listeners into her boldest and happiest love song yet, in hopes that her crush finally receives the message. “Auburn” is the newest addition to Tamara’s now multi-dimensional discography, marking a noticeable departure from the talented artist’s typical slow-tempo, adult-contemporary ballads and showcasing her true artistic growth as she vows to explore her diverse sound more in the future.

Quote:

“I wrote “Auburn” about someone that I had a huge crush on, who had absolutely no idea that I existed! This song is definitely a mixture of me expressing myself in my song diary, and me just blabbering things I would like to think I would’ve said if I had the guts to speak to my then-crush.” – Tamara Grace

Biography:

Raised and based in Montréal, Québec, Tamara Grace is a 21-year-old Canadian singer, songwriter and musician who’s songwriting and honeyed vocals soundtrack the trials and tribulations of coming of age. Inspired by acts spanning from the 1940’s to the 2010’s, namely Freddie Mercury, Melanie Martinez, Adele, Stromae, Lady Gaga and everyone in between, Grace’s style has a haunting and delicate tone, with a pop-style familiarity and relatability. Grace grew up dealing with bullying, which later developed a tower of insecurities, anxiety and depression. She channeled her feelings into her notebook, writing diary entries and poetry that progressed into gloomy, although inviting lyrics. At the age of 15, she met music producer Michael Benjoar. Soon after, Tamara released her debut single “Teddy Bear,” which reflects on one’s first experience with heartbreak and rejection. She later released “Sad Boys” and “Bad Girl,” both produced by Benjoar.

Towards Autumn of 2021, Grace met recording producer Dominique Messier (better known as Céline Dion’s longtime drummer) and began creating golden tunes. Influenced by a collection of somber poetry she had read and a past toxic relationship she was in, Tamara’s melancholic single “Autumn Tears” came to life and swiftly gained the attention of many. In a span of one year, Grace has amassed over 200 thousand streams worldwide, been named one of SiriusXM’s About to Pop artists, performed on CTV Ottawa Morning Live, garnered radio play from CBC Radio One, Radio Humber, SiriusXM and more, and featured on Tinnitist, Magazine Cool! and Wonderland Magazine, her musical and lyrical approaches being recognized then praised for their boldness and vulnerability.

Her upcoming release “Auburn,” set for release in late July, promises to be “polar opposite” to her latest hit “Autumn Tears”. She collaborated with producer and drummer Dominique Messier, along with Dion band members, guitarist Kaven Girouard and bassist Yves Labonté. A song that can be described as ardent, blunt and cheeky, Grace touches upon an all too relatable story, “when you have a crush on someone who has no idea you exist… and you can’t bring yourself to speak to them, so you carefully contemplate from afar, debating if you should go for it or rather spare yourself from the humiliation”.
