Summer isn’t over yet, and neither is the fun — without the price tag. Here are seven free things to check out around New Brunswick between now and the end of August 2026.

1. Kidfest at Officer’s Square, Fredericton

Saturday, August 29, 10:00 AM This free, family-friendly festival takes over Officer’s Square in downtown Fredericton with activities, entertainment, and fun built for kids. A great way to close out the summer before school starts.

2. Free Movie Night on the Big Screen, Saint John

Wednesday, August 19, 6:00 PM AREA 506 hosts a free outdoor movie night on the big screen along the Saint John waterfront, sponsored by DP World. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy an evening under the stars at no cost.

3. Parks Canada Free Admission (through September 7)

National parks and national historic sites across New Brunswick — including Fundy National Park, Kouchibouguac National Park, and Fort Beauséjour–Fort Cumberland — are offering free admission all the way through September 7, 2026. That still leaves you the entire rest of August to hike, swim, or explore history without paying a gate fee.

4. Dieppe Night Market

Tuesdays through August 27, 6:00–10:00 PM Held at Place 1604 in Dieppe, this weekly night market is free to attend and features live entertainment alongside local vendors — a relaxed way to spend a summer evening.

5. Rockwood Park, Saint John

Always free, always open. With one of the city’s largest playgrounds, walking trails, a beach, and green space to spare, Rockwood Park is an easy pick for a no-cost outing any day left in August.

6. Irving Nature Park, Saint John

Coastal trails, tidal beaches, and wildlife viewing along the Bay of Fundy — all free, with no admission or parking fees. It’s one of the best spots in the province to spend an afternoon outdoors before the season turns.

7. Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market

Every Saturday, 6:00 AM–1:00 PM Consistently ranked among Canada’s top community markets, browsing the stalls at Boyce Farmers Market in downtown Fredericton doesn’t cost a thing — even if your basket doesn’t end up empty-handed.

Always double-check event times and details closer to the date, as schedules can shift.
