Nominations close in a little over a week for municipal byelections in Grand Lake and Lakeland Ridges.
In Grand Lake, there is a vacancy for councillor-at-large, and in Lakeland Ridges, there are two vacancies, one for Ward 1 councillor and the other for Ward 3 councillor.
“Both municipalities are currently continuing to function, but in particular in Lakeland Ridges, where we have two vacancies, it’s important to get those vacancies filled as soon as possible,” Kim Poffenroth, New Brunswick’s chief electoral officer, said.
Byelections take place Oct. 19 with advance polls happening on Oct. 10.
Nomination papers need to be submitted by Sept. 25 at 2 p.m., Poffenroth said.
