YMCA SWIM INSTRUCTOR COURSE

The YMCA Swim Instructor course provides candidates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to work or volunteer as Swim Instructors with the YMCA. This is not the same at the Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor course and will only certify individuals to instruct at a YMCA aquatics facility.
Prerequisites: Minimum 15 years of age. Bronze Cross or Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard certification (needs to be current). Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED (needs to be current). Swim strokes at YMCA Intermediate stroke standard or equivalent.
The course includes a self-directed learning module, in-person training and successful observation and evaluation for YMCA Swim Instructor certification.
The online self-learning module must be completed by November 15th at noon. In-person learning sessions will take place November 17-19.
The YMCA offers this course for free to individuals that will commit to teaching 4 sessions of swimming lessons at our facility.
