What a fantastic afternoon for the grand reopening of the North Head ballfield. During the opening ceremony, the proud group of dedicated volunteers revealed the new name, “Cronk Memorial Ballfield”. With the Cronk family in attendance along with hundreds of anxious spectators the ballfield was officially reopened. The opening ceremonies consisted of a speech by Sylas Daggett, Cody Small and Mitchell Ingersoll who were the lead organizers. This was followed by the ceremonial first pitch by three Cronk grandkids to their dads. Duncan and Pat Cronk thanked the volunteers for their tireless efforts on restoring the field and what an honor it was to have the field named in memory of their brothers, Ryan, Haydn and Ben. After the ceremony the new field was put to good use with a friendly game of baseball.
The Village cannot express enough how thankful we are for the countless volunteers and the thousands of hours that went into restoring the Cronk Memorial Ballfield. The determination and pride that went into ever detail of the field is a true testimony of our Island and the great people who live here.
“Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.”
Thank you!!!!
