The New Brunswick government has unveiled a new mining strategy that it hopes will help revive the once-major resource sector and generate economic growth to fund government services such as health care.
The province “will expand its incentives to strengthen the province’s competitiveness and support mineral projects in advancing from exploration to development,” says the strategy, unveiled by Premier Susan Holt at a mining conference in Toronto.
“This work will include examining the need for new or expanded fiscal tools that help derisk early investment, encourage project advancement, and position New Brunswick as an attractive jurisdiction for responsible mineral development.”
