Library workers and school administrative assistants in three school districts will be able to vote on a new tentative agreement next month, without the threat of layoffs, according to the union representing workers.
More than 100 library workers and school administrative assistants across were laid off or had their hours reduced last spring following budget cuts from the province.
A Labour Board ruling in July found the province violated its duty under labour laws to bargain in good faith, negotiating contracts knowing that layoffs were soon to follow,.
