The YMCA of Fredericton is incredibly fortunate to have the former president of the Afghanistan National professional Muay Thai federation on staff to teach Youth members Muay Thai. Ghafar comes to us from Afghanistan where he boasts incredible achievements in Muay Thai. Muay Thai is a sport and martial art from Thailand that uses punches, kicks, knees, and elbows in combat. It’s known as the ‘Art of Eight Limbs‘. The program at the YMCA focuses on introducing the art of Muay Thai to youth as it guides them through various techniques, training exercises, and simulated combat scenarios. Participants will develop foundational skills and an understanding of Muay Thai’s principles through structured drills and practical applications.
Muay Thai is available to Youth Members as a registered program. The class meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on Sunday mornings. Participants will receive 3 hours of instruction in Muay Thai a week.
